"Cinema is a matter of what's in the frame and what's out". - Martin Scorsese

Martin Scorsese is undoubtedly one of the best directors of all times. He is the regarded as one of the most influential and visionary directors of the New Hollywood era. With his long narratives and attention to detail, Scorsese keeps the audience hooked for hours. Being the guy who made crime genre what it is today, Scorsese has done a number of documentaries and some family friendly films. The cinematic world of Martin Scorsese has taught aspiring filmmakers and inspired them to follow the line of cinema as a career. He is hands down, the best director of our generation. Condensing his entire career to a top 5 list was tough. So here are some honorary mentions.

  1. Casino (1985)

  2. Gangs of New York (2002)

  3. Kundun (2007)

  4. Shutter Island (2010)

  5. Hugo (2011)

  6. The Irishman (2019)

Despite of having long narratives and a ton of information and depth to his characters, Martin Scorsese always delivers the best of cinema to the entire world. He is truly The Raging Bull, that won't stop creating.

FUN FACT : Kundun is one of the most under rated work of Scorsese. The film didn't include any actors. The film based on the life of the 14th Dalai Lama had only Tibetan people and monks. Scorsese said, the passion for the land and the love for the Dalai Lama can't be portrayed with any other actor of any other origin.

Unfortunately, the only film I've seen from this list is the Wolf of Wall Street. Kundun is now on my list!
